Chairperson of Sajha Prakashan on hunger strike
KATHMANDU, NOV 06 - The Chairperson and General Manager of Sajha Prakashan , Mamata Jha, has started a fast-unto-deathprotest from Wednesday onwards with a 5-point charter of demands on the name of the government. She started hunger strike from Publication's central office in Pulchowk, Lalitpur today.
"The government was apathetic towards our plea for the betterment of the Publication," she said, "I was forced to starthunger strike after my plea went unheard," added Jha who started the strike from 6 AM today.
Jha is on a hunger strike demanding the government to provide Rs. 50 million to publish inclusive literary book, to sell the books published by government-owned Janak Sikshya, among others. Her demand also includes a loan of Rs. 150 million from the government so as to render the Publication independent.
Jha was appointed the chairperson of the Prakashan three years ago. Jha expressed her dissatisfaction saying that her demands were not met even as she informed the government about the demands prior to budget allocation.
"A historical institution has become miserable because of the government's policy", she said, "I had no choice other than hunger strike after nobody paid heed to my demands."
