  • US ambassador calls on Khanal

KATHMANDU, DEC 20 - CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal has opined that a consensus government should be formed as the nation is in dire need of a strong government.

In a meeting with Peter W. Bodde , US ambassador to Nepal, Khanal was of the view that a majority government should be formed only if consensus eluded on a consensual government.

"A strong government is needed in the present context," said Milan Raj Tuladhar of CPN-UML's foreign department quoting Khanal. "Only a consensus government or a one with majority can fulfill the people's mandate."

Khanal further expressed that the public had mandated the two major parties to draft constitution soon by incorporating other parties in the process.

During the meeting, US ambassador Bodde opined that the chosen representatives should accomplish the remaining tasks as the public had already given their mandate.
