Parents' refusal leaves children in crisis
KATHMANDU, JUN 19 - Ten children were rescue d from achildren ’s home that was operating illegally here in Kathmandu. The children were rescue d with the help of Kathmandu District Administration and police after the condition of the children at the Satungal-based child home (Apanga Asahya Sewa Sangh) deteriorated.
It has been learnt that the children ’s home has not been registered and has been running illegally .
The rescue d children have been taking shelter at Kapan-based Ruwan Star Children Home. The Kapan-based Children Home provides shelter only to orphans.
Dhruba Prasad Ghimire, chairman of the Kapan-based Children Home, said that problem had arisen as the parents of the childrenwho have been rescue d have not come to take their child. Sevenchildren who were rescue d have their parents.
The children are from Dolpa, Kalikot, Surkhet, Mugu, Khotang and Sindhupalchowk districts.
“We aim to provide shelter to only orphans,” said Ghimire.” We do not intend to provide shelter to those children who have parents.”
