CIAA directs Forest Ministry to suspend two officials

KATHMANDU, JUN 16 - The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) ordered the Forest Ministry to suspendtwo officials at the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC ) on Sunday. NTNC member secretary Juddha Bahadur Gurung and administrative chief Deepak Kumar Singh have been charged with financial irregularities .

The CIAA dispatched a letter to the Forest Ministry asking the latter to immediately suspend Gurung and Singh fearing that the two might conceal the evidences as the investigations were still underway.

Forest Ministry source said that the CIAA has urged the ministry to immediately suspend the duo and help in the ongoing investigation.

Forest Minister Tek Bahadur Gharti said that the ministry will follow the directives of the CIAA. Both Gurung and Singh said that they have not yet received the suspension letter from the ministry.

Gurung, however, argued that he could not be suspend ed as his appointment was for five years. Gurung is yet to complete his five-year term at the NTNC . He was appointed as the NTNC member secretary in 2065 B.S.
