Public vehicles ply in Pokhara defying general strike

POKHARA, NOV 11 - Public vehicles have operated their services in Pokhara defying the general strike called by the 33-party alliance led by the CPN-Maoist on Monday.
Micro buses in Pokhara and the adjoining Lekhnath municipality operated their services after security personnel of the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police provided security.
Meanwhile, shops, which were closed in the morning, have started to open. Different political parties have also started running their election publicity programmes.
A large number of security personnel have been deployed in the region to avert any untoward incidents.
