BIRATNAGAR, DEC 20 - The number of kala-azar patients increased in Morang district of late.
According to the data provided by the District Public Health Office (DPHO) , Morang, as many as 11 persons suffered from kala-azar in Morang in the first five months of the Fiscal Year 2012/13 whereas 25 persons were found infected by this disease in the same period in Fiscal Year 2013/14, said Mohammad Wasil Miyan, Chief of the Malaria and Kala-azar Department of the DPHO.
The DPHO provided mosquito repellent medicated nets and Rs. 1,000 to the kala-azar patients in the district.
The DPHO has included Majhare and Sisawani Jahada VDCs as most-at-risk VDCs while Darbesha, Katahari, Bhathigachha, Hattimudha, and Tankisinawari VDCs as also the kala-azar affected area.
