'Ministry is eager to hold early election of local bodies'

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development has outlined amendment to necessary acts and regulations required for holding local body election.

´The ministry will expedite other processes once amendment for legal frameworks is outlined to hold local body election. The Ministry is eager to hold early election of the local bodies´, Ministry Spokesperson Dinesh Thapaliya said.

The major political parties have been stressing the need to hold local body election within a year after the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.

With the CA election held successfully, the Election Commission (EC) has also expressed its readiness to hold local body election. The local bodies have been without people´s representatives since the past 15 years.
