CHITWAN, DEC 19 - The District Court, Chitwan, has extended by 13 more days the remand of the murder accused, Parshuram Poudel , of Bharatpur Municipality-9, said Biddyadhar Paudel the Documentation Officer of the Court.
Poudel, a UCPN (Maoist) cadre, is in police custody on the charge of killing Krishna Adhikari from Fujel of Gorkha district. Adhikari was murder ed in Ratnagar when he had come to Chitwan to meet his family after appearing in the SLC examination in Gorkha.
Earlier, the Court had given a 12-day remand against Poudel which will terminate Friday.
Police arrested Poudel after the family members of the victim filed the first information report to the police against 11 people on murder charge. Adhikari was murder ed on December 11, 2005.
Noor Prasad Adhikari, the deceased's brother, had filed a case against 11 persons including Poudel for their alleged involvement in the murder of his brother. However, no action was taken until late Adhikari's parents, Nanda Prasad and Ganga Maya, began a hunger strike demanding action against their son's murder ers.
Police arrested Ram Prasad Adhikari, one of the accused in Adhikari's murder , in September but released him after some days after the District Attorney's Office, Chitwan, wrote to the police to release him on condition that he would be present in the court whenever required.
Police arrested Poudel following the Adhikari couple's hunger strike in the capital for the second time.
However, the UCPN (Maoist) demanded that such conflict-era cases should be investigated by forming the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
