Woman dies after being struck by lorry in Thornhill

A female pedestrian has died after being hit by an articulated lorry in Dumfries and Galloway, police have said.

The incident happened in West Morton Street in the town of Thornhill, 15 miles north of Dumfries, at about 17:30 on Wednesday.

Police confirmed that a woman had died in the crash.

The A76 Dumfries to Kilmarnock road was closed for several hours while a crash investigation was carried out.
