Oxford Street fire closes section of road

Part of Oxford Street in central London was closed after a fire broke out on the first floor of a building.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) said crews were called at 11:00 GMT. A spokesman said 20 firefighters and four fire engines were sent.

The fire is in a building being refurbished

The fire, in a building which is being refurbished, was brought under control just after 12:00, LFB said.

The street, which was closed between Tottenham Court Road and Berwick Road, reopened about half an hour later.
