Man, 79, dies after being hit by car in Melton Mowbray

The man was struck by a car on Friday evening in Melton Mowbray

A 79-year-old pedestrian has died after he was hit by a car in Leicestershire.

It happened at about 18:10 GMT on Friday in Thorpe End, Melton Mowbray. The man was taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where he died.

The road was closed while the serious collision investigation unit carried out its investigation.

A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was later released on police bail.
