City EDL march - four arrests by Devon police

POLICE have arrested four people in connection with rival marches which took place in Exeter on Saturday.
Officers from South Devon were part of a massive police operation to control around 200 English Defence League supporters who gathered as part of a national demonstration.
Hundreds of people were also in the the city centre to oppose the march. Estimates suggested there were about 225 EDL participants and 700 campaigners from Exeter Together.
Police have confirmed that last night Kurtis Coyle, aged 21 from Exeter was arrested by police and has been charged with the possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and the possession of a class A drug (suspected cocaine). He has been bailed and is due to attend Exeter Magistrates’ Court on 3 December.
Another man was also arrested last night for being drunk and disorderly in the city centre. He is a 49 year-old man from Surrey and was subject to a fixed penalty notice.
A 30 year-old man from the Whipton area of Exeter was arrested this afternoon on Queen Street, Exeter following a section 60 search and was found to be in possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in police custody.
A 48 year-old man from the Pinhoe area of Exeter was also arrested today for being drunk and incapable in the city centre. He is currently in police custody.
