CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) cadres have pelted stones at each other during a clash in Bajura, while in Rajbiraj of Saptari, MJF-N cadres came to blows with police on Thursday.
According to news reports, cadres of UML and UCPN (M) clashed in Kotila VDC when they came across each other during an electoral campaign of each other.
At least half a dozen have been injured in the incident. They have been brought to local health posts for treatment. “The incident site is a remote place. We have dispatched our fact finding team to the site to investigate the matter,” said DSP Janak Raj Pande.
The clash is believed to have occurred ahead of UCPN (M) senior leader Baburam Bhattarai’s visit to the far-west district.
In Rajbiraj, cadres of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal (MJF-N) protested in front of police office demanding release of their cadres arrested by the police. The police detained them on charges of riding three persons on a single motorbike. After the clashes, MJF-N leader Renu Yadav was also detained.
“We took the necessary steps to bring the situation under control,” said SP Dinesh Amatya.
