Vehicular movement has been partially affected in five districts surrounding the Kathmandu Valley on Monday due to transportation strike imposed by Nepal Swatantra Majdoor Sangathan.
The transportation workers’ organisation enforced the transportation strike in Bhaktapur, Kavre, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha and Ramechhap districts to protest against strict measures adopted by the traffic police against those violating traffic rules as well as demanding regular maintanence and construction of infrastructures like roads and bridges.
Far fewer number of vehicles are seen plying in the streets of five districts due to the strike, causing great distress to regular commuters.
Public vehicles which includes both long-route buses as well as vans remain completely off the road while some private vehicles were seen plying on the streets in the affected districts including the Araniko highway that traverses through most of the affected districts, according to Metropolitan Traffic Police.Nepalnews.com
