Sooraj Pancholi arrested in Jiah Khan suicide case

The Juhu police, on Monday evening, arrested Sooraj Pancholi, 22-year-old son of actor Aditya Pancholi, for allegedly abetting the suicide of actor Jiah Khan who was found hanging at her Juhu apartment on June 3. Arun Bhagat, senior inspector of Juhu police said, “We have arrested Sooraj

and he has been booked under section 306. He will be produced before a metropolitan court on Tuesday.”

Jiah was found hanging in her bedroom by her mother, Rabbiya. The police had initially registered a case of accidental death claiming that Jiah was “depressed” and that no foul play was suspected.

However, the case took a dramatic turn after a handwritten note by Jiah was found in which she spoke of her traumatic relationship, a medical procedure she underwent and the physical and mental trauma she had suffered.

Rabbiya had alleged that torture from Sooraj led to Jiah’s death. “Sooraj was arrested after Jiah’s mother filed a complaint alleging he had pushed her to take the drastic step,” said Bhagat.
