The police had been investigating Jiah’s charges — left in a six-page
In the letter, Jiah had also accused Sooraj of physical abuse, rape, threats and cheating, following which he was arrested on Monday on charges of abetment.

“The abortion was conducted in the first two months of this year through pills. We have recorded the doctor’s statement,” said a police officer on Wednesday on condition of anonymity.
Jiah’s six-page letter, though, was not written in a day or even prior to committing suicide, the police have confirmed. She had written it over a period of time.
Though shorter, the five more letters, which the police subsequently recovered from Sooraj’s home in Juhu, were on the same lines as the first. “In three of them, Jiah had expressed her love for Sooraj while in the other two, she mildly voiced her discontent with the relationship,” the officer said.
“Sooraj has confessed to a year-long a live-in relationship with Jiah. They did not live together per se, but used to frequent each other’s homes,” said Cherring Dorjee, zonal deputy commissioner of police.
In his statement, Sooraj had also said one of Jiah’s sisters knew about the abortion. “Her statement has been recorded,” the officer added.
