The cross-party committee meet ended inconclusive ly as the parties stuck to their guns as usual, UML leader Raghuji Panta informed.
He added that the next meeting has been called for Monday afternoon. “The parties will hold internal discussions before the meeting,” he added.
The parties are sharply divided on the provision of a minimum threshold in the CA seats and whether or not to allow those convicted of criminal charges from contesting the elections. The UCPN (Maoist), Madhesi and small parties want the provisions removed completely to make the upcoming CA elections more “inclusive” but the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have been pitching for keeping the provision in the CA Member ordinance.
