KATHMANDU, DEC 29 - The UCPN (Maoist) has given the responsibility to pick the names candidates under Proportional Representation (PR) system to the party headqurters though party's Central Committee will take the final call on the same.
Top four leaders--Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leaders Babu Ram Bhattarai, Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Post Bahadur Bogati--known as party headquarters will prepare the final list of the PR lawmakers on Monday.
A Central Committee meeting of the party prepared a five-point criterion for selection of PR candidates and handed over the responsibility to the four leaders, UCPN (Maoist) spokesperson Agni Sapkota said.
The criterion states that priority should be given to the party workers who did not have the opportunity to become member in the last Constituent Assembly, or those not appointed as ministers or to any political posts and candidates representing of maximum districts as far as possible.
Likewise, the criterion also urges the leadership to avoid selecting the candidates who were unsupportive and betrayed the party and its candidates during the election.
The four leaders will select 54 names out of the 332 vying for the assembly seats.
Dahal, Bhattarai and Shrestha will prepare the list in consensus.
The four leaders took the responsibility to select the names of CA members, only after passing the criteria, as the rise in dispute was inevitable if the selection was done by the Central Committee .
The CA will seen many new faces if the criteria is observed. Some "influential people" who entered during the last elections too are vying for the selection. Larkel Lama, Raj Kumar Golcha and Rabindra Pratap Shah are among the influential people.
