KATHMANDU, DEC 29 - UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said on Sunday that the party should concentrate on " struggle " in parliament and on the streets to get its agenda addressed during the constitution-drafting process.
Addressing the party's Central Committee meeting, Dahal said that the four-point agreement signed on December 24 was a step towards preserving the achievements of the past. He said that the cross-party accord will not be implemented without struggle in parliament as well as on the streets.
"The four-point agreement has paved the way for us to struggle from parliament for the fulfillment of the party's demands," CC member Hemanta Prakash Oli quoted Dahal as saying.
Dahal said that the four-point agreement would be irrelevant if the party failed to implement it soon after the parliament takes its shape. The party has said it will not join the new government.
Dahal, however, did not discuss the government formation issue in the meeting saying that it would be taken up in the next meeting. The meeting also endorsed the four-point deal that says a parliamentary committee will investigate "vote-rigging" in the November 19 election.
