UCPN(M) boycotts vote count; blames 'conspiracies'

Pushpa Kamal Dahal

KATHMANDU, NOV 21 - In an apparant move prompted by the upsetting performance in the ongoing vote-count across the countries, the UCPN (Maoist) announced boycott of the ongoing vote-count in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

A press statement issued by the UCPN (M) headquarters calls for suspension of the ongoing vote count, as the results so far were contrary to that of 'people's hope and expectation' due to 'various conspiracies at play.'

UCPN (M) Spokesperson Agni Sapkota announced the party's decision to boycott the vote count throughout the country at a press conference in Sindhupalchowk in the wee hours on Thursday morning, citing 'serious conspiracies from national and international forces.'

"The ongoing count did not reflect the popular hope and anticipation," he said. Meanwhile, Maoists representatives have been walking out from the ballot count venues in various districts following the center's decision. The Election Commission (EC) continues tally.

The latest standing puts NC in the lead with UML trailing behind in the second spot. The Maosits are in the third place.

The UCPN (M) annouced the decision in a dramatic manner with the party's underperformance in overall vote count across the country.

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal lags behind in the third position in Kathmandu-10.
