Muscat: Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) celebrated its Annual Day on Monday this year under the auspices of Dr. Abdul Munim bin Mansour al-Hasani, Minister of Information. November 3rd of every year marks RNO's anniversary.
The ceremony was held with grandeur at the military parade field of Said bin Sultan Naval Base. The event began with the military salute to the minister and the RNO music band played the royal anthem upon the arrival of the chief guest. After which the minister scrutinized the front row of graduates column and pinned the medal of long service and good conduct on a number of RNO personnel. Later the row performed a military parade in various military formations, followed by a silent march with arms passing before the main dais accompanied by pieces of music played by the band.
The Minister of Information then presented the appreciation awards to top graduates. He then delivered a speech where he said that it is a source of pride for me to be delegated by HM Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to preside over RNO's glorious silver jubilee celebration. On this day, RNO personnel also received the marine flag from His Majesty.
He added that Oman has rich maritime history and that RNO has a leading position and earned the respect of the naval forces of the region and the world; thanks to the royal care accorded to RNO by His Majesty.
All participants put up a joint military performance, which reflected the military training skills received by the RNO personnel. They then chanted the RNO anthem, the call of loyalty and chanted thrice long live His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
After that, the commander of the row requested the minister's permission to dismiss, declaring the conclusion of the ceremony.
Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah al-Raisi, Commander of the RNO, said in a statement to the Moral Guidance representative that RNO has received the care and interest of His Majesty the Sultan, becoming one of the efficient naval forces in organizing, armament and training.
He added that development process will continue to ensure proper implementation of the plans and duties.
The occasion was attended by SAF and other military and security services commanders, officials, civil and military invitees and a number of RNO personnel. |
