Man damages hands while blasting firecrackers


    MAHOTTARI, NOV 05 -
    A person has been critically injured while blasting firecrackers in a reckless manner here on Sunday night.
    Ram Naresh Mandal of Banauli-4 in Mahottari district has been badly injured with the explosion of crackers; his both hands were severely burnt down, locals said.
    Thakur was lighting a powerful firecracker brought from Madhawapur across the border in India with merriment but unfortunately got injured, said a local journalist Bidya Nath Chaudhary. Most of his fingers have been severed from the hand in the explosion, said a Maoist leader Sunil Thakur.
    He is being treated at Janakpur Zonal Hospital, it is learnt.
    Though the Police have imposed a strict ban on the transport, sale and blasting of firecrackers in view of the impending Constituent Assembly election on November 19, sporadic incidents related tofirecrackers have been noticed in the area.
