'Failure to institutionalise changes led to election defeat'

BUTWAL, NOV 30 -

UCPN (Maoist) senior leader Baburam Bhattarai has said that the failure to institutionalise revolutionary changes led to the party's defeat in Constituent Assembly elections.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Revolutionary Journalists Association in Butwal on Saturday, the former prime minister said that the prolonged transitional period and the failure to institutionalise changes led to the rise of regressive forces.

Bhattarai said that the constitution drafting process should be initiated in consensus. He also said that the party did not mean to disrespect the people's mandate. He claimed that the party had demanded to probe the election result as there were some suspicion on the collection of ballot boxes and vote count.
