Babarmahal Blast: 5 held with explosives


KATHMANDU, AUG 02 - Police on Friday arrested five cadres of Samyukta Jatiya Mukti Morcha (SJMM), an underground outfit, along with chemicals used in making explosives from the Capital.
The same group had detonated bomb in Babarmahal on Feb 27, 2012, in which three people had lost their lives.
According to SSP Bijay Lal Kayastha, chief of the Metropolitan Police Crime Investigation Division, the arrestees are Birendra Kumar Tamang (Udayapur), Sun Bahadur Pariyar (Udayapur), Nima Sherpa (Ramechhap), Santosh Majhi (Bara) and Bhani Nath (Kanchanpur).
They were arrested from Bouddha, Balaju and Kapra area. They have been detained with the devices used for making explosives including pipe, detonator and socket.
Earlier, police had arrested Rajkumar Tamang, aka Bishwokranti, the mastermind behind the Babarmahal blast , who was hiding in an animal shed at Lungaruppa VDC-2 in Panchthar.
The group was also linked with a blast at a Dhading-based crusher industry, roadside bombings in the districts of Bara, Parsa and Rautahat and most recently, the Babarmahal bombing.
