SLMM seeks time extension for voter roll update

The Samukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha ( SLMM ) has stressed on the need to conduct the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections on November 19 and demanded to extend the deadline for voter roll update by one month.
A meeting of the alliance convened after five months at the office of Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) in the Capital on Wednesday demanded the government extend time for voter roll update saying that many citizens have been missing from the list.
According to Joint Chairman of Sadbhavana Party, Laxman Lal Karna, who was also present at the meeting, the alliance concluded that there is no alternative to holding CA polls in November as the new constitution must be drafted through the CA.
The SLMM has reiterated its stand that the federal states should be carved with regard to ethnic identity. The alliance has also demanded that the electoral constituencies should be delineated in Madhes region on the basis of population density.
Besides Karana, Nepal Sadbhavana Party leader Narsingh Chaudhari, Nawal Kishor Sah, Manish Suman, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party leader Mahantha Thakur, Hirdayesh Tripathi, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik Bijaya Gachhadar, Vice Chairman Rameshor Raya Yadav, General Secretary Jitendra Dev, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party Nepal Mahendra Raya Yadav, Vice Chairman Brij Kishor Singh, General Secretary Dan Bahadur Chaudhari and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Gantantrik (MJF-G) Raj Kishor Yadav, BP Yadav and Akwal Ahamed Shah, among other leaders, were present at the meeting.
