Shots fired at MJF-N Mahottari district office

MAHOTTARI, JUL 25 -

A district member of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum -Nepal (MJF-N) was injured when an unknown armed gang opened fire at him here in the district on Thursday. 

Two motorcycle-borne assailants opened few shots at the party's district office at Khayerachowk here in Jaleshwor.

According to Inspector at Mahottarai District Police Office, Sambhu Badal, the assailants came in a TVS company motorcycle bearing Indian registration number plate (BR 8263) and opened shots targeting the persons inside the party office. 

Mahottari district member Prakash Sah has sustained bullet on his left arm. He has been taken to Janakpur district hospital for treatment. 

The armed persons fled to the Indian territory after firing shots, police said.

Meanwhile, Rajan Mukti-led Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha, an armed outfitting operating in Madhes, has claimed responsibility for the firing. 

Earlier on July 4, the outfit had warned of taking physical action against local and central leaders of Madhes-based parties.
