A man from Hwama VDC of Rolpa is on the run after his wife accused him of raping their 12-year-old daughter.
The girl’s mother, who arrived at the District Police Office (DPO) to file a complaint on Friday, told police that her husband had been secretly raping their daughter for the past one year. She learnt about her partner’s dark secret only on Friday.
“I was devastated with shock and anger when I found out. I took my daughter and came straight to police office,” said the mother.
The girl said her father had threatened to kill her if she dared speak about their relations with anyone. She revealed that her father had rape d her many times in the past.
The girl’s mother has appealed the police to capture her absconding husband and take severest of action against him. “Such a father should not be let off scot-free,” she told Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Om Bahadur Rana Magar. DSP Magar has vowed to arrest the man and initiate necessary action against him for the crime he is accused of. The suspect will be charged with rape and incest at the court.
In the past three months, the DPO has received three cases of father-daughter rape . DSP Magar said one of the perpetrators was convicted and sentenced to jail, while two other suspects are still at large.
