Dahal urges Baidya to come to talks table
KATHMANDU, JUL 19 -
High Level Political Committee ( HLPC ) Coordinator and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has urged CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya not to have doubts over the call for talks as they have not put forth any preconditions for the same.
Dahal said so during a discussion with Baidya at the formers residence in Lazimpat on Friday morning.
During the meeting, Dahal had tried to woo Baidya to come to the negotiation table.
"There are no conditions for talks, lets come to talks table to resolve all the issues," quoting Dahal, his personal secretary Chudamani Bhattarai said.
Dahal also urged Baidya to forge consensus through talks and participate in the November polls.
In response, Baidya said he would hold further discussion on the issue following his two-day Tarai visit.
The HLPC members have been trying to convince Baidya-led CPN-Maoist and its allies, 33 parties that have been opposing the elections to sit for talks.
The HLPC has already sent a letter to the alliance requesting them to come to the talks table to ensure a successful conduction of the second Constituent Assembly polls.
Meanwhile, the CPN-Maoist has been demanding replacement of the non-partisan government with a political one, termination of all agreements signed among the four parties and a halt to the election process. The alliance has also demanded that the contentious issues that led to the dissolution of the CA last year be resolved through an all-party round-table conference.
