Arrested online journos to be released

    KATHMANDU, JUN 23 - Three online journalists , who were held over a controversial news report on their web portal, will be released on Sunday.
    The Metropolitan Police Crime Investigation Division (MPCID) had arrested Sushil Pant, the editor of nepaliheadlines.com, on Thursday on the charge of "defaming" Dillibazar Multiple Kanya Campus through a news piece. According to the police, the journlalists were arrested after they posted malicious news reports climing to have found "brinjals" in the college restrooms.
    Two other journalists--Santosh Bhattarai of nepaliheadlines.com and Pushkar Kandel of extrakhabar.com--were also arrested in connection with the same charge. It has been learnt that the journalists will be released today following a tripartite agreement among Press Council Nepal, Federation of Nepali Journalists andDillibazar Multiple Kanya Campus .
    Meanwhile, Press Council has been entrusted with the responsibility of finding whether or not the journalists had breached the ethics of journalism.
