3 Nepali killed, 13 injured in Qatar road accident
DOHA, JUN 20 - Three Nepalese were killed and 13 others injured when a minivan met with an accident in Qatar on Tuesday evening.
The accident took place when the minivan hit a side wall after a tyre burst. The vehicle was carrying 16 Nepali workers who were returning from their worksite in Doha to their accommodation in Al Sailiya.
According to local The Peninsula Daily, the dead have been identified as Krishna Rajbanshi, Paspal Dhamal and Brijnath Pandit, all between aged 35 and 40.
A Nepali worker injured in the accident said the daily that the driver lost control of the van after the tyre burst and broke a steel divider before hitting the wall.
The van took several turns on the highway, before hitting the wall. One of the dead was thrown out of the van and was probably run over by it. The other two died apparently after hitting the steel body and the bars of the van with severe force.
All the others traveling in the van were injured. Five of them are said to be in critical condition. They were rushed to Hamad Medical Corporation for treatment. Six injured workers have been discharged while the others have been receiving treatment.
Nepalese embassy in Qatar has said that it has not received any information about the accident.
